Spring Home Refresh: Landscape Art and 2026 Interior Trends

The April Shift

When I’m out in the landscape at this time of year, it feels like there is a touch of magic in the air. The mists of winter are lifting from the Mournes, replaced by a soft, luminous Spring light that feels incredibly uplifting. I am inspired to bring that same feeling into my studio and home.

It’s no longer about the "quiet resilience" I felt in the early part of the year. Now it’s about a Seasonal Shift. It’s the time of year we naturally want to trade the cozy "cocoon" of winter for a space filled with light, breath, and new growth.

Embracing 'Warm Minimalism' in 2026

If you’re feeling the urge to refresh your space, the interior trend I am most drawn to this season is 'Warm Minimalism.' It’s a move away from cold, stark spaces toward rooms that feel intentional and grounded.

How do we achieve this without a complete redecoration?

  • Lighten the Layers: Swap out heavy, dark textiles for light natural fabrics like raw linen or cotton.
  • Let the Walls do the Heavy Lifting: A single, well-placed landscape can act as a window, bringing the calming rhythm of the Northern Irish coast right into your living room.

Choosing Your 'Anchor' Piece

When selecting art for a Spring reset, look for calming greens, soft blues or uplifting brighter tones. These aren't just colours; they are frequencies that mimic the outdoors. In my studio, I find these shades act as a visual exhale.

Artist Tip: If you have a gallery wall, try "pruning" it this month. Remove one or two smaller, busier pieces and replace them with one larger landscape that has plenty of breathing space. You’ll be amazed at how much larger the room feels.
